Preparing a fintech finance pack for a Taiwan board week
A calendar-minded guide to assembling ledger support, variance notes, and risk footnotes before directors meet — written for audits and board readiness in Taiwan’s fintech scene.
Board week compresses everyone. In Taiwan’s fintech offices, that often means finance teams closing the books while also translating partner issues into language directors can use. The finance pack becomes the single place where those threads must meet.
Work backward from the meeting date. Six business days prior is a practical moment for an independent challenge pass — enough time to fix wording, not enough time to reopen the entire close. That is why our board pack finance review is built as a short engagement rather than a miniature audit.
Variance notes deserve the same care as the figures. “Revenue up because of seasonality” rarely survives a follow-up if the partner mix changed. Tie each material variance to a cause you can evidence: a new corridor, a fee schedule change, or a one-off settlement catch-up.
Risk footnotes should mention open suspense above policy thresholds and any known partner disputes that could move balances after the pack is circulated. Directors prefer an early mention over a surprise in the oral presentation.
White Pine’s Taipei-area clients often keep a one-page “questions we expect” list beside the pack. Writing that list yourself is useful even if you never hire an outside reviewer — it forces the finance owner to rehearse the second question before the room does.
